Chinese bus driver saves suicidal woman from jumping off bridge

A bus driver has saved a suicidal woman from jumping off a bridge in China's east.

CCTV from inside the vehicle on Sunday shows driver Bian Pengfei on his usual commute across a bridge over the Yangtze River in Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province, New China TV reports.

Mr Pengfei is seen braking when he sees a woman in a pink dress trying to climb the bridge's railing.

Once he stops the bus Mr Pengfei, opens the front doors and leaps out of his seat to grab the woman.

Along with the help of several bystanders he manages to drag the woman back onto the bus before.

She was taken to a local police station and is understood to be undergoing counselling.
