Homes buried, seven rescued after massive landslide hits south-west China
A powerful landslide has hit south-west China, burying people under a mass of rubble.
According to local state media, at least eight people have been rescued after the devastating landslip struck Chongqing municipality on Friday morning.

The landslide occurred about 9.08am on Friday (11.08am AEST) in Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County, affecting an area along a section of the Wujiang River.
The exact number of people still missing remains unconfirmed, and authorities have not said if there have been any deaths.
Video posted by state media outlet Xinhua shows that the landslide tore through the riverside area, burying a number of homes.
Images released by state broadcaster CCTV, show part of a mountainside collapsing onto a residential area, as rescue crews searched through the debris.
Emergency crews and local rescue teams are on the scene, scouring the wreckage for survivors.
China’s Ministry of Emergency Management has sent 100 personnel to assist with the rescue effort, while another 200 fire rescue workers have also been sent to the scene.

Public weather records show the area experienced high temperatures and thunderstorms in the days leading up to the landslide.
The disaster comes about two months after a landslide in Chongqing’s Yongchuan district left nine people dead and 11 others missing.
