Back-scratching bear drops low to Pussycat Dolls hit in hilarious Planet Earth preview

The BBC has hit another viral home run with its latest video promoting the second episode of nature documentary series PlanetEarth II.

As part of a promotion for the new series, the British broadcaster has matched video of a bear apparently scratching its back on a tree to the Pussycat Dolls hit, “Don’t Cha”, for hilarious effect.

The risqué video, posted to YouTube yesterday, showing the bear undulating and dropping low in time to the music, has already been viewed more than 100,000 times.

It comes just days after the BBC released a terrifying excerpt from the series, “Snakes vs Iguana”, showing snakes hunting a newly hatched marine iguana.

The stunning video, filmed on Fernandina Island in the Galápagos, has since received more than three million views.

The BBC’s latest video comes a couple of days in advance of Sunday night’s “Mountains” episode.

Bears are believed to rub their backs against a tree so as to mark it with their scent – a form of communication between members of the same species.

Planet Earth is a critically acclaimed series that first aired in March, 2006. It features the narration of English broadcaster and naturalist Sir David Attenborough.
