Arsonist sets bus on fire

A man in China has doused a packed bus in a flammable liquid and set it alight, injuring 33 people including himself.

CCTV cameras from inside the bus captured the terrifying event, which occurred in the Chinese city of Hangzhou on July 6.

Passengers can be seen quickly stepping aside as the man – who sat crouched – suddenly stands up.

Then, almost instantly, he bends over again igniting a line of fire which runs along the inside of the bus.

Passengers were left trapped inside the inferno, unable to escape through the doors or windows.

Many, including the arsonist, were rushed to a nearby hospital where they now remain in a critical condition.

Police confirmed the suspect used a lighter to ignite a combustible liquid, believed to be either "banana oil" or "pine fragrance".
