Vet on the Hill's Dr Scott Miller gives 90-year-old fan a sweet surprise

Superstar Aussie vet Dr Scott Miller has made a special trip home from London to help out one of his biggest fans.

It has been 20 years since Dr Scott made the move from sunny Brisbane to London, opening up three clinics across the city.

His most notable one is in Richmond Hill — where he is, officially, the Vet on the Hill.

His hit TV show is a way to explore his passion for helping animals.

"The average day-to-day life for a vet, it is very varied," he told A Current Affair.

"And it's all creatures great and small. It is a job for me, but it is quite engaging, I think, for people to watch, because there is a kaleidoscope of emotion."

But even away from the show, Dr Scott knows how important and special the bond is between animals and humans.

That's why, on his latest tour Down Under, the Vet on the Hill took the time to visit 90-year-old fan John in Melbourne.

John first met Dr Scott on holiday in Europe.

Tragedy struck in March this year when John's wife Glennie, with whom he watched Vet on the Hill religiously, passed away.

He also lost his best friend Lucy, a Pomeranian.

John's son, Russell, reached out to Dr Scott to help cheer up his father, and the vet decided to introduce John to a new four-legged friend.

It's safe to say corgi-Jack Russell cross Nugget took to his new owner immediately.

"Hello darling, you're beautiful," John said.

John said the gift was "overwhelming".

"I watch [Dr Scott's] show every afternoon," he said.

"We'll be able to watch it together now, won't we?"
