Travel Guides newbies Brooke McClymont and Adam Eckersley reveal why holiday ‘first’ will be their biggest test

Exclusive: Country music singers Brooke McClymont and Adam Eckersley live together, work and perform together but holidaying together will be a new experience for them.
The husband and wife duo are slipping in for a guest appearance on Travel Guides as the crew head to Tanzania. Fans might have noticed OG cast Kevin and Janetta bowed out for this holiday, but fear not, they’ll be back in the coming episodes!

When asked to be a part of the Travel Guides family the pair admitted they “felt pretty chuffed”.
Then this realisation hit them: “Oh my god, we’ve never really been on holidays before.”
“We’ve always travelled heaps for work, being musicians. But all you see is backstage rooms, motels, and the highway,” Adam told nine.com.au.
The couple lives on their 100-acre rural property in Wang Wauk, on the mid morth coast of New South Wales with their children Tiggy Heart, 13, and Elroy, five.
For them, “nothing beats where we live”.
“That’s why we don’t holiday much either because we work heaps when we’re away. When we have time off, we generally stay on our farm because it’s pretty hard to beat the mid-north coast.”
Brooke, who is also part of the musical trio The McClymonts with sisters Sam and Mollie, asked her sister Sam, who is also a Getaway host, for some travel advice.

She was told just to pack light, and Brooke admitted that, as much as she loves travelling, she could never do what Sam does on Getaway.
“She’s amazing at her job. I could never do her job at all. She’s incredible and she’s the active one. She would’ve smashed Travel Guides actually.”
Having not spent much of their time holidaying, the couple admitted they didn’t know what kind of holiday they would like, but were glad their stint on Travel Guides would give them a little taster.
And as a married couple they had no worries about the dynamics on holiday.

“We know if we’re not getting along we’ll just go our separate ways and say, ‘See you in the morning’,” Brooke laughed.
Brooke and Adam described their travel style as “low maintenance”.
“We also like the idea of anything that’s flash, because we don’t usually do it, so it’ll be a bit of a treat,” she added.
Adam knew exactly what he didn’t want to do on holidays, starting the list strong with ‘exercise’.
“Not big on exercise unless the activity is me going to have a beer,” Adam laughed.

The parents of two said they’ve always been huge fans of the show.
“We always sit down with the kids and go, ‘Oh, imagine us going there and there’. Then we’re like, ‘Oh, that’s right, you kids can’t come’,” Brooke joked.
Like any parents, the pair admitted holidaying on their own gave them a bit of a breather.
“It’s always great the first few hours leaving the kids at home but, every time you get a week in and, you’re ready for home and to give them a hug.”
