Jono Fren on life with baby Theodore – as the rest of the family lifts the lid on the new Travel Guides cast

Exclusive: Fan-favourites the Frens are back for another adventure-packed season of Travel Guides, but not even a five-star holiday could top the family’s newest arrival, baby Theodore.
Jono Fren says life with a 12-week-old has been an adjustment for him and wife Danielle but one that he is “loving every second of”.

“I do have a whole new respect for Danielle being a mum because there’s so much more the mum has to do than the dad so I’m trying to hold my weight,” Jono told nine.com.au.
With Theodore arriving in March, well and truly after filming for Travel Guides had wrapped, Jono has had his feet firmly planted at home with Danielle and their new son.
“I just love seeing his cheeky smile. At around five weeks we could start seeing his emotions and personality develop,” Jono said.
“He’s always so happy and it just brightens my day so much.”
Jono said his parents Mark and Cathy have been super helpful, dropping pearls of parenting wisdom here and there.
“We’ve always said, ‘Your advice is welcome but don’t be offended if it’s not taken on board’,” he laughed. “We’re handling ourselves pretty well but we wouldn’t have been able to do it with their advice.”
It’s not just Jono and Danielle who are smitten with baby Theodore. Mark and Cathy say he’s the perfect baby while sister Victoria has already claimed the badge of ‘favourite Aunty’, even if it’s by default.
“Jonathan has stepped up and Danielle is the most beautiful mother. They’re so in tune and they just love him so much,” Mark said of the new parents.

“I’ve never seen such a placid and calm baby which is fantastic.”
Mark and Cathy giggled, agreeing Jonathan didn’t think he’d need their advice in every parenting scenario.
“He said ’oh we don’t need mum and dad’s advice, we’ll Google anything we don’t know.”
Baby Theodore might be the cutest new face the Frens are getting to know but he isn’t the only one, with guest appearances popping up throughout the new season of Travel Guides including The Block’s Eliza and Liberty, Love Island’s Mitch and Callum and country singers Brooke and Adam.

“After spending a season with some of the new guys, I think the network hit the nail on the head because it’s good to have some new blood,” Mark said.
“We absolutely loved all the new people. I think they all brought a bit of a pizzazz to the show. Because it’s an ensemble, we want every group to shine, so hopefully that’s going to happen, and we’re really excited.”
Travel Guides kicks off Monday night at 7:30 in Chile on Channel 9 and 9Now.
