They each had a $100 a day to spend on food, fun and accommodation.

"Are we dreading a budget holiday? God yes," said 'travel snob' Kevin.

Joining Kevin on this cheap-as-chips vacay was wife Janetta, hilarious duo Matt and Brett, best mates Kev, Teng and Dorian and besties Karly and Bri who were in a rude shock for their $14 a night accommodation.

"Is this a joke?!" said Bri in disbelief as they checked into their hostel 'dorm room'.

The Guides checked into the Prince Theatre Heritage Stay.

Saving a night's accommodation, the Guides took an overnight sleeper train to the majestic mountain city of Chiang Mai, Bangkok's laid back little sister.

The difference between first class and economy class was a mere $12.

So what does that extra 12 bucks buy you in first class?

Turns out, not a lot...

"There's nothing in here anywhere near first class," Kevin argued.

And if you come to Chiang Mai, you've got to have a massage.

Yam Khang is an ancient massage technique found only in northern Thailand that helps relieve muscle, tendon and bone pain.

But what they walked into was not what they expected:
