What exactly is pinstripe? According to Hayden and Sara

Looking at a photo of a white bed cover with a blue line around the edging, Hayden pronounced he didn’t like pinstripe.

So began one of the most frustrating conversations ever.

“It’s not a pinstripe,” said Sara. “Pinstripe is white, blue, white, blue, white, blue.”

“Nah, pinstripe is just a stripe detail that’s a pin,” replied Hayden.

“Pinstripe, very thin stripe of any colour,” Hayden read from his phone, after a quick internet search.

Sara grabbed the screen and challenge his definition. “A pattern!” she yelped. “A pattern of very thin stripes. … in plural form.”

Hayden countered that a car could have a pinstripe around it and it didn’t have multiple stripes.

Sara argued back that was a border, not a pinstripe.

They then began also arguing about the definition of borders.

To settle things, here is the actual definition of pinstripe: A very narrow stripe in cloth, especially of the type used for formal suits.
