Excuse us while we squeal in child-like delight.

A wallpaper designer based in Brooklyn has launched a line of wallpapers that, when touched, smell exactly like they look.

Or, in other words, scratch n’ sniff wallpaper!

The quirky concept was the brainchild of one of Jon Sherman’s clients who, after thumbing through his high school notebooks for artistic inspiration, was reminded of the joyous existence of scratch n’ sniff stickers.

Sherman, whose business Flavor Paper specialises in attention-grabbing custom wallpaper, sourced a water-based adhesive with micro-encapsulated fragrance oils.

It’s applied to the wallpaper, and when scratched, the capsules are popped and the smell released.

What fun!

The permanent line has three different patterns – bananas, cherries, and citrus – that come in a variety of colourways.

Unsurprisingly, the fantastically fun designs have caught the eye of trendy restauranteurs, designers and celebrities.

According to Elle Décor, Dita Von Teese ordered the cherry print with a deep purple background for her home, and Tommy Hilfiger went to town and installed each of the three smelly designs in three bathrooms of his Miami mansion.
