Tess and Luke have set the record straight on their relationship following allegations of 'abuse', reported after a heated exchange between the couple on the show.

"When you're very sleep-deprived and you're frustrated and angry you definitely say things that you don't mean," Tess told 9Entertainment, adding, "I don't condone violence at all. Luke and I are in a very loving relationship and I absolutely think the world of him and I'm not a violent person at all."

The article's claims are based on a momentary blow up, which occurred while Tess and Luke's renovation plans were crumbling. At the time, Tess called Luke a "d--khead" and said, "I could knock you out square in the face."

"Sitting at home and watching it back, I can see how it's absolutely offensive language," said Tess. "It can definitely come across so much more serious than what it was.

"I know that he [Luke] did not think that I would ever touch him. I would never touch anybody, but it's just words that you say when you're so frustrated."

Tess added, "I absolutely apologise to anyone who's offended."

For Luke, he believes the claims have been "blown out of proportion".

"The allegations about Tess could not be more further from the truth," said Luke. "She's not violent whatsoever. We both have a cheeky personality. We don't mean to offend anyone. It's our relationship. It's a bloody good one.

"I've been with Tess for eight-and-a-half years. I know exactly what she's like and I've never felt unsafe or threatened.

"Tess has got an absolute heart of gold and I really want to get that across, because people might be a bit offended by our sense of humour," he concluded.
