This 3D-shapeshifting puzzle is like a Rubik's Cube 2.0, but way cooler. 

Designed by Harvard researchers, the reconfigurable structure is built from metamaterials – materials that are used to control and manipulate and function through structure, not composition, and their geometrical arrangement of those materials.

he reconfigurable puzzle was created by scanning close to a million different designs and selecting the best design for each function.

This design means the configurations are not dependent on scale. Therefore, the same design can be applied to everything from architecture to reconfigurable nanoscale systems. Mind. Blown.
