Sara’s no good, very bad, horrible day

Welcome to the day where Jess woke up on the right side of the bed, and Sara most certainly did not.

“Unfortunately, we don’t have stock.”

Sara’s bad day kicked off when she decided on her couch, only to be told there was no stock available. “That’s just made me feel really sick,” she said, devastated.

“That will be too small.”

She rallied from her couch sadness to purchase her dining table… and learned it was too small for the space.

“Why wouldn’t ya?”

Jess was thrilled to discover a non-profit furniture store with truly incredible and unique Indigenous inspired and created pieces. “The workmanship that these guys do is exquisite,” Jess said. “I love it, and I love that it has a story behind it.” She didn’t hesitate to buy three original pieces, delighted that no other contestants would have anything similar. A fossil coffee table, side dresser and beautiful buffer completed her trip and left her beaming.

“The pressure’s always on me!”
Meanwhile, as Jess shopped up a storm, Sara was clocking her sixth straight hour in the same furniture store where she couldn’t get her desired couch, table or chairs. “I feel like the pressure is definitely on me again,” she said, defeated. “It’s just really daunting.”

“I’m just overwhelmed.”

As the day dragged, Sara’s confidence drooped. She admitted the sparkle that came with winning a room had evaporated and held back tears as she choked out, “I’m over it.” She explained the self-doubt was wearing her down. “In the real world I am confident in my decision making.” 

“Polarising’s just a buzz word.”

Sara had literally been dancing with joy over one purchase she had secured – a baby grand piano. But even that had changed, as she flipped on her decision to place one in her huge room. “Unfortunately, we can’t put a piano there because that’s polarising our buyer,” she said. When queried who had given her that advice, Sara stated it came from “Shaynna – all the judges.” Hayden was puzzled. “How do they even know about a piano?” he asked. “I know that that’s what they’ll say,” Sara replied.

After a full day of frustration (Sara) and delight (Jess), the pair were both in very different moods. Jess smiled as she caught up with Norm and Sara looked less impressed than ever.

Here’s hoping for a good night’s sleep for everyone tonight!
