Room Reveals: Chantel and Wyatt’s Guest Bedroom
The pair went in confident but were quickly shut down when the judges said that a certain aspect of their room left them feeling “deeply distressed”.
Chantel and Wyatt went into this week feeling pretty confident, claiming they’d “absolutely done enough” to take home the win for their Guest Bedrooms.

The couple were aiming for an “old luxury” feel and ahead of hearing the judges’ feedback, they thought they’d gotten it spot on. “I believe we’ll be pulling the win off tonight,” Wyatt said.

But, it seems the judges didn’t exactly agree with Chantel and Wyatt’s vision.

Immediately the judges were impressed by the carpet, and Marty even took his shoes off to really get an understanding of how it felt between his toes. But, that’s about where the positive feedback ended.

“Overall, the judges felt the room simply isn’t hitting the brief,” Scotty told the couple. All three judges had a major bone to pick with the period detailing of the wall panelling, saying it would have suited the suburb “35 years ago,” but not today.

“I feel deeply distressed by this,” guest judge, Domain’s Alice Stolz, said while pointing to the wall. “It makes me feel as though they haven’t thought about the buyer that they’re hoping to attract here.”

Looking at the detailing of the room, Shaynna said that the couple “obviously know what they’re doing” when it comes to styling, but they just haven’t nailed the right themes.

“They’ve set up the bed beautifully. It looks like it’s executed beautifully. Nothing is offensive in the way that they’ve done it. But it doesn’t suit the area, it doesn’t actually suit the building and the fact that it’s white-on-white-on-white... this is beyond vanilla,” she said.

Safe to say, the judges weren’t too impressed by the design choices for a modern home.

“I think the painting is really disappointing in this room as well. I really would expect more week one when you’re playing for the option of any house on The Block,” Alice added.
