Room Reveal: Adam and Jolene’s Family Bathroom
There was a lot to love in Adam and Jolene’s room this week, but one crucial decision threatened to undo it all for the judges.
The judges were immediately impressed by the effort Adam and Jolene put into House 1’s Family Bathroom space, but there was one major decision that left all three of them scratching their heads.

The couple had deleted the door from their powder room, meaning that anyone trying to reach the bathroom would have to walk past the toilet – which could make for some awkward moments!

“Whoever’s sitting there is really a sitting duck,” Marty Fox joked. The judges agreed that it just didn’t work as a floor plan, although Shaynna Blaze did ponder whether it would appeal to those who frequent a nearby nudist beach!

“A floor plan can make or break a house and a room,” she said. While Shaynna loved the look of everything IN this space, “we can’t even talk about it because if you’ve got the floor plan wrong, all these incredible finishes because second, third, fourth.”

On the bright side, with finishes like this, real estate expert Marty didn’t think it would damage their sales campaign too much.

Darren Palmer believed they’d nailed his original design brief of light, bright, modern luxury.

“The right palette for this buyer is limestone, it’s travertine, it’s oak, it’s white,” he said, looking around. “Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, yes.”

The shower enclosure, with a luxurious curved seat, was “gorgeous” and while it had a steam room feel to it, that wasn’t actually its function.

Marty thought it was an odd decision to take a glass shower screen right to the ceiling, but Shaynna believed the entire space would photograph beautifully.

“Look at those divine towels, the texture on the towels, these beautiful tiles that are like a replica of sand,” she gushed. “You’ve got a gorgeous oak vanity and everything’s matte.” Safe to say, she was a big fan of the material choices!
