Room Reveal: Adam and Jolene’s Guest Suite
After facing some budget issues, the country couple set out to deliver a colourful Guest Suite without overspending. Instead, they copped dreaded ‘nana’ comparisons.
Adam and Jolene reckoned they had a great week working on their “bougie” Guest Suite, which they described as luxe and elevated.

Shaynna Blaze was a fan of the colour as soon as she stepped into the bedroom, and said she was glad to see Adam and Jolene had taken the judges’ advice to pare back some of their styling.

Darren Palmer agreed the room felt memorable and well-finished, but felt it could have used a rug to really make the space feel grounded. Shaynna agreed it could have made the space feel bigger.

Adam had been worried about a trio of pink birds on the wall by the bed, which Shaynna didn’t love paired with the rest of the room’s styling. “If you’re putting carnations and those birds, you’re saying ‘nana,’” she said.

Jolene won’t be happy with that feedback, given she had hoped to avoid any ‘grandma’ comparisons. “If they say ‘oh my god, grandma’s come to stay’ then I’ll be pretty devvo,” she said before judging.

Though Shaynna liked the inclusion of these generous wardrobes, she felt the deep shelving on the end was a waste of space that could have been better used for something more practical. Perhaps a tea and coffee station?

“It needs a little bit more amenity as a guest wing, like a sink or something to add value to the buyer,” Marty Fox said. Shaynna also noticed that the doors looked unfinished, which made her nervous about the bathroom.

Stepping into the ensuite, the judges were very happy with what they saw. All three complimented Adam and Jolene’s tile choices, which added warmth and colour to the room without becoming overwhelming.

Marty was a big fan of the vanity and basin, which continued the colour story that started in the bedroom and continued in the bathroom.

Marty also loved the shower, which featured three different types of tile that came together for a beautifully cohesive look.
