Ronnie and Georgia's renovation commandments

The most experienced renovators on The Block have just signed up to work with Nine. And now the hyper-organised Georgia exclusively gives us her top renovating tips.

First and most importantly, says Georgia, "Always have a contingency fund, because you always spend over, no matter what."

Even before you get to the stage of working with trades and styling rooms, Georgia points out that you should work out exactly who you're renovating for: "Renovating for yourself is really different from renovating for profit. So if you're renovating your own home, go nuts on the colours and really tick those boxes that you love, but if you're renovating to sell, try to keep a really nice neutral palette."

One way to keep costs down, learn new skills and have some fun? "Give it a go yourself!" says Georgia with a smile. 

"Get on the tools, get on the paintbrush - everyone can paint. Practice makes perfect, so definitely give it a red hot shot."
