The Block Auction Day 2025 Recap: Unprecedented auction sees Britt and Taz win with $520k – but tears flow as two homes fail to sell

The Block auctions have brought the hammer down on the series' time in Daylesford, but while the season is officially over, for some of the couples the journey to sell their property will continue.

The Season 21 finale has crowned its winner, as some teams walked away with life-changing money, two homes were passed in after bids failed to reach reserve.

"The Block Auction certainly delivered up some drama. We had some big highs and some low lows, we're gutted that some of the homes didn't sell," host Scott Cam reflected.

"It seems selling five houses on the same day in Daylesford was possibly a bit of a tall order."

We've broken down just how the auctions played out and how much every team took home in an emotional finale.

Britt and Taz in House 3 emerged victorious, being crowned 2025 champions by a large margin over Sonny and Alicia and Robby and Mat.

Emma and Ben's House 1 and Han and Can's House 2 failed to sell, forcing the teams to pass them in and continue to negotiate with their agents and potential buyers in the weeks to come.

So, that's where it landed – and here's how it played out:

Auction order and reserve reveal

First things first, it was time to choose the auction order – always a controversial moment!

This year, the second and third spots seemed to be everyone's pick of the bunch. Interesting, and also... well, it's not possible for everyone to get what they want, is it?

Domain editor Alice Stolz revealed that Houses 3 and 5 had the most registered buyers at five each, but House 5's buyers are all interested in House 3 too, while unfortunately House 2 had none yet.

Britt and Taz wanted to go second, but Robby backed them to go first, hopefully get a good price and set the tone for the rest of them.

Emma and Ben asked for first, but would concede that to House 3 on the proviso of going third, creating a domino effect of Sonny and Leesh giving up their want of third place to go fourth.

It all became too much for Can, whose emotions took over and Han explained their fear of not selling.

The plan all hinged on Britt and Taz agreeing to go first, and it took some massaging to ease their apprehension, but in the end the negotiations are surprisingly smooth.

No need to go to a hat this year!

Then, the reserves were revealed via very fancy bottles of wine from Levantine Hill – and they were high. Very high.

"That is rough," everyone reacted.

"It feels rough to me too," Scotty agreed.

Unsurprisingly, there was a newfound panic amongst the group.

The reserves were as follows:

Finally, it was Auction Day.

Nerves were through the roof, and it turned out for good reason, as two homes did not sell and not all teams walked away happy with their results.

Britt and Taz - House 3

First up were WA coppers Britt and Taz and absolutely everyone is hoping for a jaw-dropping result that sets the tone.

Things looked good from the get-go, with all the people you want to see in the room right there, including the familiar faces of Danny Wallis and buyer's advocate Frank Valentic.

After some sly looks around the room, Frank began with a bid of $2.85m.

Then, after some very quick back and fourth, we were officially on the market at $3m.

Danny made his first move of the day in the most Danny way, offering up $3.055m.

Numbers were flying: $3.06m, $3.1m, $3.10m, then a huge jump with a $3.33m bid from Danny... with 33 cents too, of course.

An advocate on the phone came through with $3.35m.

"Listen carefully, $3,356,000.45, minus 86 cents," Danny said.

And everyone was officially lost.

Danny and the agent on the phone continued to go toe-to-toe, going from weird number to whole number and back again.

Britt and Taz were besides themselves as the numbers went up.

At $3.41m, Danny was officially out.

First... second... third... sold, for an incredible $420k profit.

Cue cheers, tears and a group hug with an ecstatic Scotty!

Robby and Mat - House 5

After seeing the hammer fall on House 3, Robby and Mat were hoping for that kind of success as well.

Many big wigs were in the room, from Danny Wallis to Frank Valentic, and even to artist David Bromley!

A $2.8m bid from Danny gets the ball rolling.

Frank returns the ball with $2.875m, before Mitch Duncan, the owner of Farmers Arms Daylesford Hotel, jumps in at $2.9m.

Some very quick exchanges between Danny and Frank get us to $3m, meaning it's officially on the market.

The auctioneer begins to call it... once... twice...

Then comes $3,009,909 – yes, of course, that's a Danny Wallis bid if we've ever heard it. Frank rounds things to $3.015m, but Danny hits back with $3,031,111.

These numbers hurt our brains!

Frank and Danny keep volleying: $3.050m, $3.070m, $3.090m, $3.099m.

That was the ceiling for Frank's buyer, who was out, and while everyone wished for the bids to continue, House 5 was officially sold to Danny.

The boys were shellshocked and disappointed, as are their neighbours watching on who know most of them have to follow that.

Sold for: $3,099,999

Total profit: $109,999

Emma and Ben - House 1

After that, Emma and Ben were trying to stay positive but their hearts were in their throats.

Danny was again in the room, and Emma spotted another possible buyer, Ron from Bassi Workwear.

Ron was straight into it, offering up a $2.5m bid. Then came $2.85m, which Ron contested with $2.9m.

Frank returned with a small increase to $2.92m. It was not yet on the market and yet, bidding had stalled.

Their auctioneer tried to tease out further bids, finally getting $2.94m from Ron.

In quick succession came $2.95, $2.96m and $2.97, but it was still not on the market and things were not looking good.

Scotty jumped in, telling Emma and Ben to act fast and call their agent. He needed to pause things immediately.

There were tense moments as Scotty relayed the message to their agent who had to jump in and tell the auctioneer.

Their agent paid a visit and Scotty advised them to return to the auction with a $3.1m vendor bid.

Unfortunately, that did not reinvigorate the room and House 1 was officially passed in.

Sold for: Passed in

Sonny and Alicia - House 4

It was not the lead in Sonny and Alicia were hoping for, but could their lower reserve would make all the difference?

They met with their agent first to devise a strategy: Scotty advised making a vendor bid of $3.05m from the get-go and passing it in if there were no further bids.

That looked to be the case for a long time, as all the faces we'd already seen looked around at each other rather than raising a paddle.

But soon, it became clear this was the perfect game plan.

After an eternity, Frank made a late move to offer $3.06m.

Just like that, House 4 was going, going, gone giving Sonny and Alicia an immediate $120k profit.

"We're more than happy, it's been a tough day for everyone," Sonny reacted.

Reserve: $2,940,000

Auction order: Fourth

Sold for: $3,060,000

Total profit: $120,000

Han and Can - House 2

Like their friends at House 4, Han and Can began proceedings by chatting to their agent.

And again, Scotty advised a vendor bid. Due to their reserve, the host suggested $3.1m to begin, which is immediately agreed to.

If it doesn't lead to higher bids, House 2 will also be passed in.

Sadly, after a long silence, that looked to be the case.

"I'm going to throw up," Han reacted.

The auctioneer paused to reassess the situation, as their agents made the rounds.

Danny was not interested, Frank's buyer did not want to go above $3m and there was no further movement in the room.

So, it was officially passed in.

The silver lining was that Han and Can saw this coming, and were ready to continue their campaign to sell House 2 beyond Auction Day.

Despite the tough results, there was still a celebration to be had as Britt and Taz were officially crowned winners of The Block 2025.

What a rollercoaster season it has been in Daylesford!

It wasn't the Auction Day all the teams were hoping for but thankfully, Houses 1 and 2 will be back on the market – to hopefully deliver some incredible results in the coming weeks.
