Princess Diana's ancestral family home Althorp estate for rent

It's been over 15 years since her death, yet fascination around Princess Diana's life still sparks intense interest.

Now visitors to Althorp Estate; Diana's childhood home, are welcome to stay overnight in the late beloved royal's bedroom.

Diana's brother, Earl Charles Spencer, and his wife, Countess Karen Spence, announced their plans to open the 500 year-old Althorp family home late last week. 
The property also serves as Diana's final resting place following her death in 1997.

"We are launching a campaign to raise funds for While Child where we are going to open the home, open Althorp, to raise funds," Karen told journalist Cynthia McFadden of NBC's On Assignment show. The organisation works to improve conditions for children living in orphanages around the world- Lady Spencer founded the Whole Child and is the CEO and Chair of the Board.

You'll require deep pockets for the intimate experience – a weekend on the property will set you back around $50,000 per night or $346,000 split between a party of 18. 

Guest will be given access to areas not usually open to the public, including Diana's room.

However, for those who find the above sums hard to swallow, there's a competition being held for those who raise the highest dollar amount for the charity to win a weekend at Althorp. The stately home will be open for three weekends over July and August.

Until now, 19 of the 90 rooms of the private home have been open to the public, showcasing in them collections of furniture, a world-class art collection, and a memorial museum for Princess Diana and gravesite.
