Hot pink house causing rift with neighbours

Although millennial pink is having a moment, it seems, not everyone is keen on embracing the trend — or more specifically, see it entirely cover houses on their street.  

Architecture practice M-RAD has commissioned Most Famous Artist, and his company, The Mural Agency, to paint a trio of houses in the LA neigbourhood of Faircrest Heights hot pink for a temporary installation — and locals have kicked up a stink. 

Less than a week after the hot pink hue was went up, the locals have ask for the buildings to be repainted, Curbed LA has revealed.

M-Rad’s marketing director Eric Stauble told the publication that reactions to the installation has opened up interesting dialog. "What’s great is that most of the negative reaction is starting a dialogue about urbanisation and the projects that are being approved through the city both from a design standpoint and also a size stand point," he said. 

Despite some neighbours objections, more than 7900 photos have been tagged #thepinkhouse, and its become something of a popular background for Instagram photo shoots. 

The houses are set to be demolished from next week, with construction on a 45-unit apartment block designed by M-RAD to be erected in their place.
