There will be a yacht trackside at the Melbourne Cup

Every year it seems like the Birdcage has reached peak luxe, but they somehow manage to top it and this year is no exception.

Birdcage sponsor and official champagne house, Maison Mumm, today revealed a new first for the Birdcage at Flemington – an actual cruising motor yacht!

Will the racetrack had had all sorts of crazy trackside happenings throughout the years, nothing like this has ever been done before.

The $2.2M yacht makes up a huge part of the massive two storey marquee. It was unveiled today by Australian model and and Mumm Ambassador, Shanina Shaik, who christened the vessel with a bottle of Mumm champagne.

It will be christened each race day with a ceremony and what Mumm tell us will be a 'daring performance on the bow' each afternoon.
