Plantsnap app takes the hard work out of identifying plants

If you've ever walked around a beautiful garden and wondered what exactly you're admiring, or feel totally clueless describing the indoor plant you like to the nursery assistant at your local Bunnings, this new app could be for you.
PlantSnap is a mobile app created to help you identify plants with a snap. As the video above shows, PlantSnap identifies the plant variety, along with growing conditions and where it can be found within seconds of analysing your image.
The company's Kickstarter page explains the app uses a deep-learning international database to produce instantaneous and free responses. "Not only does the app help you better understand the plants that surround you – our data banks can help scientists understand plants globally," the description explains.
The creators of PlantSnap see it being used as an educational tool, as well as commercially in gardening and landscaping businesses.
Think about it, wouldn't you life be so much easier if you could ask for a raphis palm tree at the nursery rather than trying to explain what it looks like?
