Massive spaces, massive scores and Block history rewritten

Studio week almost broke every Blockhead - the biggest area (100sqm) in the shortest amount of time. “This studio is as big as one of the first properties The Block ever did,” said Clint and that just about sums up the craziness - and skill level of these renovators.

And when it comes to skills, two teams were out in front. Ronnie and Georgia took the win and along with Josh and Elyse, created Block history as the only couples ever to win six rooms. Of course, this means our ultra-competitive teams now have a major battle on their hands to see who will take out the seventh… or will one of the other Houses squash their dreams?

It was an exhausted crew that scraped themselves into HQ for judging. Presenting a garage, studio, walk in robe and ensuite in one week is certainly no mean feat. But they got it done… mostly. Here’s how the judging went down and what got Ronnie and Georgia across the line.

Jason and Sarah
The duo put in a nib wall to divide the studio space into a bedroom and study area, with a stunning ensuite and built- in robes finishing the room. The pair didn’t quite finish their space, much to Sarah’s dismay. “It was a winner… if it was finished,” she complained. The setback stung just that bit extra because it was the ensuite that let them down – and as we know, Jason is a plumber. But, the pair received glowing praise from the judges. “It is absolutely amazing,” said Neale Whitaker. “It’s a really happy space. … It can be whatever you want it to be.”

Clint and Hannah
Clint and Hannah presented the room as one big, open space. “I’m loving the style,” enthused Shaynna Blaze, while Darren Palmer believed it was the best room delivered by the couple yet. However, Shaynna added that she simply didn’t get a feeling that she “wanted” the space.

The pair kept things in the studio simple, but were sure to carve out budget to set up the garage and games room downstairs too – the only couple to do so. It paid off, securing the duo the win. The space upstairs was deliberately kept open, decorated with desks, to treat it as a work space. “It has real purpose,” said Shaynna. “You could literally run your empire right here,” said Darren. The pair were praised for their simple but effective solutions throughout the areas, along with the flexibility the pieces they styled with offered.
