Tate Modern has released a time-lapse movie showing recently opened Herzog & de Meuron's Switch House extension, during construction.

The video was filmed over three years by London production company Lobster Pictures and shows the building being assembled from the ground up.

First the ten-storey concrete core is erected on the south-bank London site, followed by the ziggurat designed structure of the new museum wing. The building is then latticed with 336,000 bricks.

Tate's Switch House extension was opened last week and has already attracted record visitor numbers.
