Here’s everything the Blockheads are planning for their Guest Bedrooms

Last week was the first ever Domain walkarounds where Blockheads had to pitch their plans to Alice Stoltz, Managing Editor of Domain, Scott Cam and Shelley Craft. Now they’ve warmed up, they were keen to go the extra mile to impress - and score themselves some extra cash and marketing dollars for Domain!

Jess and Norm: High end and bespoke bedheads
Jess decided to up the impress factor and show off a few elements of their room, presenting the bedside table and plush green velvet bedhead. “This is amazing,” enthused Shelley. “To actually see so many pieces and such a great vision.”

“It’s so opulent, luxe and high end,” agreed Alice. Jess and Norm have a three metre, custom made velvet bedhead worth $2500, and while the pair were getting praised for their planning for the room, Scott was also quick to pan them for their failure to submit invoices for last week’s Bathroom renovation.

“We’re not very good at budgeting,” admitted Norm. “This is totally unacceptable,” Scott said, telling them to immediately get themselves into gear - and tidy their living space too.

Hayden and Sara: Silver velvet and fancy details
Hayden and Sara were keen to make a good impression after copping a serve at judging for their previous room. They also went for luxury, with a coffered ceiling, decorative skirting boards and a silver velvet bedhead.

Alice encouraged the pair to make use of the extra space in their room and perhaps add a study. “It’s a great nook,” she said firmly as the pair replied they wanted to just create a relaxation area.

“Perhaps your ideas together aren’t gelling as well as they could,” Shelly said gently, pointing out some of their choices felt urban and others were very classic.

Sara blamed Hayden for having too much input into the design. “I’ve always known my lane,” she said. “He just crosses over into it.” Shelly agreed, telling Hayden to trust Sara’s choices. “You need to start listening to me,” Sara said to her husband firmly.

“I want to congratulate you both, you took out the prize this week,” Scott began as Sara and Hayden looked nervous. “…for the most expensive bathroom on The Block!” finished Scott.

“How did we do that?” Hayden asked – which, when it comes to budgets, is never a great question to throw at Scotty. The two had spent just under $62 000 on their room – just shy of an all-time record.

“Looks like we might have spent a little bit too much on our Bathroom,” said Hayden, in what could be the understatement of the series so far.
