Hayden and Sara deliver a massive shock NO ONE saw coming

In her esteemed role as treasurer, Jess is responsible for releasing all the funds to the Blockheads. However, this week she has yet to transfer the allowances as she hasn’t been able to reconcile what Hayden and Sara spent in week one.

The maths was simple – spend over in week one and you get less in week two, to compensate. Spend over in week two and you’re ineligible to win any money.

But for Jess, something just wasn’t adding up.

“I’m just really nervous about [Hayden and Sara’s] budget,” said Jess, remarking she was worried they would overspend on trades and not have any money left at the end to pay them.

“Something suss might be going on here,” Jess said. “Maybe [they] just don’t want to tell us that [they’ve] overspent.”

Jess went straight to the source, asking Sara for her information, line by line.

But even with the specifics laid out, she was baffled. “The figures that they’ve given me doesn’t match the work that I’ve been watching getting done,” she admitted. “From what I’ve seen they’re in a whole lot of strife.”

Her suspicions were warranted, given Sara and Hayden were the ones responsible for producing the most expensive bathroom EVER on The Block – 75 thousand dollars.

However, Sara was about to blow Jess’ mind.

As she checked, double and triple, the invoices, Jess was stunned to determine the pair were actually slightly under budget.

“They had completely underspent for the week, which I thought was logistically impossible,” Jess said.

“Either Sara is a budgeting genius, or she just fluked it!” Given Sara was just as shocked as Jess to get the final tally and the good news, we’re guessing it’s the latter.

“You actually did the best budget out of all of us!” Jess confirmed. “Credit where credit’s due.”
