How much is a good night's sleep worth? According to Swedish mattress-makers at Hästens, around $200,000.
For the price of a luxury sports car, the company claims its Hästens Vividus mattress will give you the best sleep of your life.
The product, which has taken over ten years to create, is made by one of four craftsmen in workshop in Köping, Sweden, and take over a ten-week period, and around 320 hours of work, according to Bloomberg.
A variety of unusual natural materials are used, including soundproof flax, cotton, wool, a Swedish pine for the frame, and horsehair. The horsehair, which is braided and upbraided, is said to create a signature bounce and help temperature control the mattress. These materials used in multiple layers to create a lifting effect for your legs, improving circulation.
The company claims, this use of natural material, rather than synthetic materials which is often used in other mattresses, creates a breathable product and controls body temperatures through the night.
According to Hästense exxy price tag is warranted as the 'perfect sleep' for an average of eight hours per night, for 25 years, works out to be around $3.40 per hour.
