Hans refuses the penthouse once more at controversial body corporate

Anyone would think the “Old Gatwick” apartments see the penthouses as a threat.
First, Apartments 2 and 3 voted against Norm and Jess getting a pool.
And when Bianca and Carla needed a crane to assist in building their outdoor terrace, it was a swift “no” yet again… before a whole lotta backflipping.
It all started innocently enough. Dave Franklin asked Bianca and Carla to check out the possibility of using the crane to lift up some of the heavier items their terrace needed.

The contestants aren’t allowed to use the crane whatsoever, a rule Carla learned the hard way earlier in the competition.
However, understanding the enormity of the task at hand, Keith agreed to allow the girls to use the crane if four out of five of the teams agreed to it. “Body corp’s don’t always go the penthouses’ way,” sighed Bianca.
Aware she was up against it, Bianca sought out some advice from Jess, herself a victim of a “penthouse no”. Jess warned her not to create a scenario where the other apartments felt like they were doing them a favour, or it would be an immediate shutdown.

“Obviously we know very well that one of the rules is that no contestants are allowed to use the crane,” she began as Sara and Courtney immediately shared knowing looks. Cleverly, Bianca phrased the request on behalf of all the contestants, asking that they all be allowed to use the crane for Terrace Week.
“The crane doesn’t really help anybody else,” said Scotty, bluntly, but Bianca added Apartment 2 could also use the crane and helpfully made her point about hogging the use of the lift. Jess cautiously chipped in that they too would be taking up a lot of the lift’s time and the crane would help free it up for the lower apartments to use.
Scotty suggested an immediate body corp vote. Kerrie and Spence, as usual, immediately agreed to the request. Hans and Courtney looked at each other before Hans drawled, “No.” Courtney gasped at his boldness.
“I’ve said no before,” Hans said. “Let’s do it again.”
Bianca tried to salvage the situation, suspecting that Hayden and Sara were about to offer up a no as well. She scrambled, reminding them everyone could share the crane.
“We have nothing to put on our terrace,” replied Hans, entirely unmoved.
What she didn’t realise though, was that Sara and Hayden needed the crane as well, and they whispered as much to Courtney. She in turn, told Hans to change their vote.
“OK,” offered Hans, less confidently. “After consideration with my other half, yes please.”
The girls were relieved, as everyone else swiftly voted yes as well.
We just hope Hans isn’t asking for penthouse favours anytime soon!
