EXCLUSIVE: Gone are the days of panicked 3am painting – this year, The Block Season 21 is enforcing a strict curfew.

In an exclusive video, which you can watch above, co-host Shelley Craft explained one of the biggest shake-ups on the series in years.

Each night, everyone, including all Blockheads and their tradies, are locked out of the work site until the following morning.

"You cannot work 24 hours a day. It's not good for anyone's mental health or wellbeing," Shelley shared.

"Certainly not appropriate for a work site these days!"

In past years, contestants have lived on-site in tents or half-renovated rooms while working on their homes but in 2025, the Blockheads sleep off-site in very cushy caravans.

"No more tents, they've got it easy this year," Shelley laughed.

It's certainly better than air mattresses, but the lockdown means contestants will no longer be able to fall back on completing their painting in the wee hours.

Time management is going to be more important than ever if they're going to finish rooms on time.

However, she was "thrilled" to report it was "the happiest Block we've had in a long time".

"We've obviously had to make changes to how the show is structured over the years so that our contestants can have an enjoyable experience, as well as a great learning experience," Shelley explained.

The Block's first Room Reveals air Sunday at 7pm and continues Monday to Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
