The Block always pays their debts

Money can get pretty tight on The Block, but one thing's for certain – it's unacceptable to leave tradie's bills unpaid.

Controversial couple Jason and Sarah have copped a stern talking to from host Scott Cam for refusing to pay an $8000 plasterer's bill.

"We pay our bills on The Block – we have a reputation to uphold," he told the pair.

"This guy has a family. He's owed 8000 bucks and you've told him you're not paying any of it."

Admittedly, the plastering in question does leave a lot to be desired. "None of the work was done properly and he wants to charge me $8000," Sarah said. "I don't think so."

It's not the first time Scotty has come to blows with the divisive couple – he threatened to boot them off the show for failing to present their master bedroom.

Speaking to TV WEEK, Scott said "Jason and Sarah have quite a few weaknesses in this competition. They've struggled all the way through with money and timings.

"I've done 13 [seasons] of these – laziness really gets under my skin."
