And the ultimate champions are…

In their battle to take out a seventh win, get one over their rivals and be deemed the ultimate Block legends, Ronnie and Georgia and Josh and Elyse forgot one thing – there were other Blockheads in the race. And in the end, it wasn’t either of the warring teams that won the final room reveal – it was Sticks and Wombat.

Finally nailing the “restrained” timber look, the boys wowed the judges with their street appeal, but it was their adorable little cumquat tree that gave them that extra nudge.

With everyone opting for relatively safe styling, it was the little touches that made all the difference – along with embracing the heritage features of the house.

As we know, street appeal makes a huge impact when it comes to selling a home – so who nailed it, and who might have missed the mark?

Jason and Sarah
The two were scrambling like madmen all week, with a huge defect list and a whopping amount of painting to do. They even required a visit from host Scott Cam, reminding them that they actually, really, had to finish the build by Sunday. “And I’m stressed about it,” agreed Sarah. But somehow, by skipping sleep, and painting, prepping, patching, sanding, filling and painting, they got it done. Who would have thunk it?

Their façade wooed the judges immediately. “Isn’t it the sweetest little dream house you’ve ever seen?” said Darren Palmer. They adored the bluestone, timber, and brickwork but were particularly impressed by the restored door and windows. “There’s just such an amazing sense of harmony,” said Neale Whitaker. “Jason and Sarah have shown such respect for the age and the heritage of the building. … I reckon this is gonna be here for another 100 years.”

Ronnie and Georgia
The “black sheep” of Regent Street went for a dark finish, which meant their home stood out immediately. “I think this is what you call a statement,” said Neale. Shaynna Blaze added that the “unusual” colour choice made the leadlight windows pop. Neale wasn’t a fan of the statement tiles but Darren felt they managed to tie the white fence and dark façade together.
