The Block's Sarah shares a touching letter for her Nan

Dearest Nan,

The hardest part about writing this is that I never had the chance to say goodbye. As much as I hope a letter will fix the heartache, it doesn't.

I know deep in my heart that you know exactly where I was and how proud you would have been of us. I still wish I was able to be there to say goodbye and to be there for our family, particularly Mum. I know that you would have been so excited for this venture in our lives and how you would have wanted us to give it our absolute best. I know you would have been watching every single night and laughing along with us.

I'm so grateful that I was there for you on Christmas Day when you had your last stroke. I will never forget the words we shared together and the moment we had. My heart is happy, knowing that we were able to share this before I left for The Block.

I am truly grateful that you are no longer in pain. That slowly, every stroke you had, was taking a part of you that we would never get back.

I'm so grateful that you are with Pa now and you are reunited with him, after 8 years apart. I know he would have been there to guide you into eternal rest. I know how much he meant to you and I am so happy that you are together again.

I will never forget our time together as a child, playing Bingo and having Chinese for lunch. These will forever be my fondest memories of you and I.

Naturally, I always thought you would be around to meet my children and to show them how to play Bingo. But I know you will always be looking down over my family and guiding us in the right direction.

I want to thank you for loving my mum and raising her to be the woman she is.

She is forever a blessing in my life, because of you and Pa.

You were such a strong woman and I hope to be just as strong as you through the hard times in my life.

From the bottom of my heart I'm truly sorry that I couldn't be there to say goodbye.

I miss you and I love you.
