Woman's Christmas tree hatches 100 praying mantises

Molly Kreuze from Springfield, Virginia got quite the shock when more than 100 praying mantises hatched from an egg sack hidden in her Christmas tree -- and started to make her house their home.

Yep, trying to do the traditional thing for the holidays by setting up a natural tree, Molly had no idea one of the branches was housing a brown sac full of hundreds of eggs; her future creepy crawlies.

It's the stuff of nightmares.

“Bugs. Crawling on the walls, crawling on the ceilings. Just kind of moving,” Kreuze told local news channel ABC 7.

Molly has stayed surprisingly clam throughout the alien mantis invasion and instead of killing every last one of them with fire, has been feeding the insects fruit flies and collecting them in a shoe box.

“In my Googling, I discovered people really like praying mantises,” she said.

“They are useful; they eat other bugs, and people use them for organic gardening.

“I hope to find them a home. I don’t want them.”
