Week four recap: The fall of Nasser

Powered by
Married at First Sight

Let’s just call this week The Fall of Nasser. In which one perfectly moisturised man went from sweet snorkelling instructor to ghost obsessed whinger. Nasser, what happened?

In all fairness, he did have a bad night’s sleep. Some of us really struggle with that. So when he zipped back to Gab’s little rented joint on his tiny scooter – take a moment to imagine that thing chugging across the Harbour Bridge at peak hour – we were hopeful he had snapped out of it. A solid, poltergeist free night on a supportive, ergonomic mattress and starting the day with full access to moisturising products might have been all Nasser needed. Unfortunately that was not the case. Instead, he had caught a case of the wet whinging blankets from either of the Seans.

Dean managed to cop grief all week long for his neck nuzzling and text exchanges with Davina, and just when you started to think that maybe the guy has done enough suffering, he turned full circle and started minimising what went down. In Dean’s mind, villainess Davina sent him some sexy texts sprinkled liberally with eggplant emojis. There was no physical touching and he was simply tempted, before stoically turning his head away from this apple wielding Eve to feast instead on a morning offering of melons. Thanks to the powers of the mighty editing team, we have useful reminders that this was indeed not the case. We suspect that his stellar ability to downplay and deny will continue on through the season. Stay tuned for more terrible metaphors about fruit in your weekly recaps!

On a way more serious note, Telv also gave us an insight into his background when he revealed he was once struggling to find somewhere to live during a period in his childhood, where he faced domestic violence. He choked back tears as Sarah said what we were all thinking: “It reinforced for me that he has come from tough times and he’s still, [despite] all the bad things that have happened to him, has come out the other end of it an amazing human being. Good, smart, strong, very humble, very generous.” Telv has now swiftly stepped into the “lovely bloke” spot left vacant by Nasser while he is busy panicking about ghosts and suitable turmeric latte locations.
