No one was more excited for the first Dinner Party of MAFS 2026 than bride Mel.

But unlike many of her fellow participants, it didn't have anything to do with showing off how well her relationship was going.

In fact, it was the opposite.

"I'm really excited to talk to someone else other than Luke," the bride said with a smile.

Ouch!

True to her word, it did not take long for her fellow participants and experts Alessandra Rampolla, John Aiken and Mel Schilling to pick up on how Mel felt about husband Luke.

"The way she looks at him or doesn't look at him, literally her body language, her facial expressions are all saying 'get away, I do not want to be around you,'" Alessandra reacted.

When Mel told the other brides about their lack of connection, they couldn't help but feel she wasn't giving him a chance because he wasn't the blond-haired, blue-eyed surfer type she was hoping for.

"I actually feel really bad for him, I think she needs to give him a chance," Gia reacted.

Soon they found their marriage under the microscope of the entire table as Mel said she hadn't got what she hoped for from the experiment.

The group encouraged her to build at least a friendship with Luke and go from there.

"He's a beautiful guy, he's got a heart of gold and all I want to say is with Mel, if you're closed off from day one, it's going to be really hard to pull her back ... that concerns me a bit, I think she's going to miss out on someone amazing," Rebecca said.

"You guys were matched for a reason, you have to remember that," Gia told Mel.

During the chat, Mel said she knew she hadn't been acting the best.

"I know Luke is definitely trying harder than I am, I know I'm not being the nicest person," she admitted.

This wasn't much comfort to Luke though, as he said it wasn't fair for him to keep trying over and over while getting nothing in return.

Hopefully, Mel will take the advice of her fellow brides before it was too late!
