Exclusive: Teejay slams co-star Paul for shocking Final Task decision as he reveals what Paul told the group about his date

EXCLUSIVE: Married At First Sight groom Teejay has slammed his co-star Paul for taking on the Final Task despite doing it himself.

The brides and grooms were thrown the ultimate curveball when they were offered the chance to meet with their alternative matches.

For those in a rough patch in their marriages it was an opportunity to see if the grass was greener on the other side but for those in steady relationships it was a disaster waiting to happen.

In an interview with 9Entertainment, Teejay said learning fellow groom Paul had taken part in the task – and blown up his marriage to Carina in the process – was shocking.

But according to Teejay, what was even more shocking was that when Paul spoke to his co-stars, he painted out his date to go very differently than how it actually played out.

Teejay knew how strongly Carina felt for Paul, especially as he had bonded with her during the Partner Swap a couple of weeks earlier.

Then, after hearing Carina and Paul gush about their successful Homestays Week, Teejay thought Paul's decision was a poor one.

"It just didn't make sense why Paul would even entertain going in. After their Homestays, they were talking about Carina meeting Paul's family, moving in together and what's after the experiment," Teejay shared.

"So if you're talking about that, why are you even considering what is on the other side of the fence?"

Watching it back, Teejay found it interesting that Paul explained it as if he did not stay long or enjoy his time: "But it was actually her [Paul's date Hannah] that chose to leave the date, so that surprised me".

Both Teejay and his wife Beth also chose to take part, coming off the back of a difficult time for the pair that resulted in him writing 'leave' at the final Commitment Ceremony.

The groom explained that he felt "at a stand still" in his relationship and he hoped meeting a second match would clear things up for him.

However, he came away from his date with 31-year-old Tara with no more clarity than before and in hindsight, he regretted taking part.

"Looking back on what the challenge actually was, you know, I was there for Beth. Regardless on if it worked for us or not, I was there to be Beth's husband," he explained.

"To go look if the grass was greener, I don't think that is the right thing to do regardless of if you write 'stay' or 'leave.'"

After the task, Teejay said he and Beth had the monumental task of trying to find the positive, fun vibe that described their early relationship.

"Most of the experiment was light-hearted, it was beautiful, it was funny, it was nice, it was comfortable – and that last week wasn't where we usually were, so it was about getting back there."
