Exclusive: MAFS' Awhina reveals what she really thought about being matched with Paul during the Couples Swap
EXCLUSIVE: The Married At First Sight experiment certainly throws the participants a lot of curveballs, and Awhina didn't see it's latest one coming.
As Feedback Week' got underway, the controversial Couple Swap separated her and husband Adrian for three days living with someone else, despite them only just getting back on track.

In an interview with 9Entertainment, Awhina said found it a rewarding experience – but very surprising.
"I was extremely surprised, I didn't know that was know that was going to happen and I was in two minds," she said.
"On one hand, having space from Adrian after they'd begun to reconnect was daunting, but it also offered a fresh perspective that could be really helpful."

Awhina was pleased to be matched with Paul, despite earlier revealing that they actually knew each other prior to the experiment because he had dated her twin sister Cleo two years earlier.
"It was a very easy few days," she explained. "I think I was quite lucky, because Paul and I had a friendship. It was an easy time. We both like cooking, we went to the gym.
"I enjoyed Feedback Week, it wasn't a hard one for me like it would've been for some other people."

Despite the unusual arrangement of living with another groom, Awhina found space away from Adrian really validating.

"For me, the fresh perspective was I actually did miss Adrian while I was away from him for those couple days, but I also really enjoyed having that space," she said.
"I think it was really healthy. We get thrown in this environment where you're living on top of each other and you just met and you kind of get lost in that, that when you actually remove us and put us in our own spaces for a bit, it's nice."

However, she wasn't sure if she and Paul had really nailed the 'advice' portion of the week.
"I'm not sure if Paul and I gave each other any good advice to be honest!" she laughed.

As for her husband Adrian, Awhina felt completely comfortable about him spending three days with Jamie.
"I was very at ease knowing Jamie was coming in.," she added.
"I probably would have had a different experience if it was someone I wasn't so close with, but Jamie and I are very close so her coming into my room, I was like 'have at him!'" she joked.
Married At First Sight airs Sunday at 7pm and Monday to Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
