Layton leaves wife Melinda in utter disbelief as he attempts to light a candle using a toaster on MAFS 2023
Melinda and Layton are known as the "power couple" on Married at First Sight Season 10, thanks to their sharp minds and epic success in the business world.
But one moment during Episode 11 allowed us to see that even a high-power CEO can go through a not-so-intelligent moment sometimes.

In one scene, Layton revealed he had attempted to light a candle... by using a toaster.

"I thought it would be a good idea to get some paper and the light the toaster, and then try to light the paper on the toaster, and then try to light the candle from the paper which would have caught flame from the toaster..." he explained, fleshing out his master plan.
"That didn't go as planned."

After the paper fell into toaster, Layton attempted to stick a knife in to retrieve it – which is obviously, incredibly dangerous.
"I think for a very intelligent man, he can sometimes be... very unintelligent," Melinda told cameras.

"Sometimes I'm like, 'What am I doing' and I definitely look at him and think, 'What are you doing?' and 'How are we running companies?'"
Layton tried to lighten the mood but his attempt wasn't exactly well received.
"You would've woken up to an electrocuted husband," he joked to an unimpressed wife.
