Jack is the ultimate nice guy and a bit of a hipster from what we've seen so far on Married At First Sight. He's charismatic and likeable, but what you might not know is he comes from a sporting background.

Turns out the 26-year-old is quite the skier and in 2012 competed in the freestyle ski cross at the Innsbruck Winter Youth Olympics.

But in an exclusive interview with 9Entertainment, the groom revealed it wasn't something that he had ever planned to do.

"I started skiing when I was very young because my Nona took me down to the snow," he began.

"Basically I progressed by racing and jumped onboard this program in Perisher, in Jindabyne [New South Wales] and I sort of progressed through that and eventually from doing countless races."

Jack trained both overseas and in Australia before he finally got scouted.

"Within two years I qualified in Australia," he said.

Jack, who was 17 at the time, qualified for the top 16 of the ski cross competition and took the 13th place after his first run Innsbruck, Austria.

But Jack's time skiing competitively was short lived.

"I won't be competing again," he said.

"At the time I was skiing, it was very little funding… and I was only 17 years old. I was moving to start university and I didn't really have the money behind me."

The cost of the sport was a huge part of not competing again and Jack explained the training camps add up to being around $2,200 a week.

That on top of his gear, he said it can easily add up to over $10,000 a year and at 17, it wasn't feasible.

While he no longer skis at a competitive level, it's still something that he enjoys doing in his spare time.

"Skiing is something I wholeheartedly look to do for the rest of my life but not in a competitive nature," he said.

If things work out between him and Domenica we're sure we'll be seeing them on the slopes together.
