Exclusive: Al reflects on his MAFS journey and how it forced him to grow up

Al tried to rekindle a spark with Sam during a final date on Married At First Sight, but it wasn't enough. They both decided to leave at the latest Commitment Ceremony.

One of the biggest issues in their relationship was his lack of maturity and the 26-year-old admitted he has learnt a lot from the experiment.

In an exclusive interview with 9Entertainment, Al revealed that while things didn't work out with Sam, he took a lot out of the experience.

"Before coming to this experiment, I thought it would be really easy to fall in love. I was wrong," he said. Watch the full interview above.

Al admitted he was "super optimistic" about what would happen but the experiment proved more difficult than he thought.

"Married life is hard. It is sad I didn't find love, but I won't stop trying," he explained.

While things didn't work out for him and Sam, the experience is something he knows will help him in future relationships.

"After coming out of the experiment, I do feel confident that I will be a great husband one day," he said proudly.

"I've grown as a person in this experiment."

Throughout the experience of being married, Al admitted he learned a lot and has new tools to use in future.

"I need to talk a lot more deep, I've got to be not so surface level," he said.

"I've got to compromise as well, that's a big thing. That's something that Sam and I did have a few problems on."

While he didn't find his happily ever after, MAFS was a lifechanging experience for the young tradie.

"The journey on the show was probably the best thing I've ever done in my life,' he said.

"I've cherished every single moment of it. If I'm gonna be honest I didn't want to leave. I loved it there.

"Even though I came on there to find love, I fell short. I didn't find love but I came back with something a lot better, and that's life long friends — including Sam as a friend."

Looking back at his time on MAFS, one thing has stayed the same, his positive attitude.

"I don't have any regrets. I'm glad to say I was myself the whole time," he said.

"I never changed, but I did grow."
