Love Island UK star Molly-Mae Hague opens up about 'horrendous pain' from endometriosis in new book

Love Island UK star Molly-Mae Hague has given fans more insight into the reality of living with endometriosis.

In her new book, Becoming Molly-Mae, the reality star opened up about the 'horrendous' pain she endures and how it effects her relationship with Tommy Fury - who she met on Love Island.

The 23-year-old explained how she only knew something wasn't right after she met Tommy.

"Before I was with him, I wasn't really into having sex, so I didn't really think there were any problems other than my period pains," she revealed.

"But when I was in a relationship and just became really aware of that side of my body, I thought, 'There are so many things wrong here - something's not right'."

Endometriosis causes tissue similar to the lining of the womb to grow in other places, such as the ovaries.

The Love Island star was experiencing severe pain, which became so unbearable that it started to effect their sex life.

"I was suffering horrendous pain - literally feeling like I'd been stabbed in the stomach, just awful - and it was causing me so many issues," she said.

"Big TMI! But my sex life just became non-existent: it was not a part of our relationship."

Molly-Mae has previously opened up about dealing with endometriosis and how it took her years to be diagnosed. She visited several doctors over the years and was told things like, 'it was just period pain', or 'thrush' or she just 'wasn't taking the right painkillers'.

It wasn't until she was referred to a specialist that she found out it was something more serious.

"Yes, you absolutely do have endometriosis, what you've been dealing with is absolutely not normal," the doctor told her.

The reality star documented her laparoscopy — keyhole surgery — to remove endometriosis and shared pictures of her belly post-surgery on Instagram.

She revealed the surgery was "way harder" than she thought it would be.

"My recovery time was quite a bit longer than I had planned and I was just a bit of a mess after that surgery," she added.
