In what is set to be one of the biggest Bombshell arrivals Love Island Australia has ever seen, last year's winners and – now exes – Mitch Hibberd and Tina Provis are set to enter the 2022 Villa as Islanders.

And in the biggest twist to date, neither is aware the other will be appearing.

The duo won the show in 2021 after meeting on the series, but sadly announced their split in February 2022.

In exclusive and very much separate pre-Villa interviews with 9Entertainment, both Mitch and Tina revealed why they've decided to try and find love on the show a second time around.

"It's going to be chaos. My reason for returning to the Villa is – why not?" said former AFL star Mitch, who has played for Essendon and North Melbourne Football Clubs. "The first time was such a wild ride, with lots of ups and downs.

"Some people might think I'm crazy signing up to do it all again, but when the opportunity came I just jumped at it.

"Obviously, it would nice to find someone. Whatever happens, happens, and I might walk out there with the love of my life. I definitely did not think I was ever going to get a second chance at love in the Villa, but I'm happy to experience the chaos once again.

"I think the girls will be happy to see me, and the boys, not so much!"

During her interview, Tina said: "I must be absolutely mad, first off. But I absolutely loved my first Love Island journey. It was honestly the time of my life, and I didn't think I could turn down a second chance to find someone special again.

"There was no way I could possibly refuse, and there's part of me that's a hopeless romantic that thinks, 'Maybe it didn't work out the first time, because I was meant to go a second time?'"

Following their split, Tina told Abbie Chatfield's It's A Lot podcast earlier this year that Mitch moved on pretty fast with another former Islander, Emily Ward.

Discussing what happened himself, Mitch said: "It was after I'd broke up with Tina, there was something there briefly but it wasn't anything too serious or anything like that.

"But yeah... there's not much to say, but there was no cheating involved and we were both single. That's just the way it happened. Drama follows me!"

He added: "My love life has been non-existent in the last year after the breakup, so it'll be nice to get back in the game."

Speaking about her own love life post-split, Tina said, "After my breakup, I really took a step back from dating.

"I honestly was just in a mood where I was like, 'I've had enough!'

"But I feel like I'm now ready to open myself up again, and that is really scary."
