Exclusive: TV contestants recall moment Hamish Blake prank ended in disaster: 'He's a distraction and a comedic genius'
EXCLUSIVE: Trent and Alex are returning contestants on LEGO® Masters: Grand Masters of the Galaxy so they had a good idea of what to expect a second time around.
That included the joys and challenges of working alongside the show's host Hamish Blake.
"Hamish is a distraction, a comedic genius, he's a morale boost, a breath of fresh air... and the most annoying person," Trent laughed when asked about the TV star.
Trent was quick to recall a "time of pressure" where Hamish's comedic antics ended in disaster.
"There was one moment when I was deep in concentration working on this really intricate build and Hamish, for some reason, had an air horn and blew it which caused me to capitulate in fear and smash what I was building," Trent remembered, laughing.
But it was all in good fun and for Trent and Alex, the pranks and foolery are part of the LEGO Masters territory.

This season marks the first time Trent and Alex will compete as build partners. They both took part in LEGO Masters: Grand Masters in 2023 but with different teammates.
While the change might be unnerving for some, Trent and Alex say they "are a really good match".
"Our personalities are a match but more to the point our build styles are perfectly aligned. We both love fun, comical cartoon style characters," they explained.

While Trent and Alex are vying against three other Aussie duos and six international teams to win the title and the $100,000 prize, they say the comradery between the competitors is real.
"With the international teams coming from Sweden, China, Finland... we really wanted to show them around so we did lots of touristy things together," Trent and Alex said.
"We would go to the zoo, to the beach and out for drinks together. LEGO is a great chance to meet new people and make new friends from all over the world."

Trent and Alex explained that it soon became a running joke between cast and crew about how much time the contestants were spending in the sauna.
"There's a team Finland and a team Sweden who are sauna experts, so there were a number of sauna sessions," Trent explained.

Teams from across the globe have flown to take part in the most competitive season yet! Nine
They recalled one hilarious incident where they told special guest Sophie Monk about their sauna visits.
"[Sophie] assumed we were all going in nude, but to clarify we were definitely wearing bathing attire," Trent and Alex laughed.
Trent and Alex will be representing Australia as the best of the best LEGO builders from across the universe battle it out in Season 7.
