Captain Corn vs Buttery Man | Episode 8

Episode 8's challenge involved creating a whole new generation of superhero – and they were all food-based!

To celebrate 100 years of Woolworths, contestants created a hero inspired by one of these fresh food minifigures: Watermelon Woman, Chilli Girl, Carrot Man, Pea in a Pod, Captain Corn and Banana Boy.

They needed to incorporate their fresh food superhero into an epic battle of good versus bad, showcasing their chosen minifigure's superpower, the adversary it's facing, and the setting of the battle.

It was also the last build with the MAGIC Brick up for grabs, guaranteeing the winner a spot in the Final Four!

David and G were given Captain Corn and decided to create a farm-based battle between him and his arch nemesis... Buttery Man.

While Buttery Man harvests corn and turns it into popcorn, Captain Corn attempts to save the day by shooting kernels at him.

"You guys nailed the story. This was one of the harder fresh food vegetables to get but you did a great job to these," Brickman said.

He said he'd never considered butter as the enemy, but felt it was "ace".

David and G had originally built Buttery Man's harvester with green bricks, but after realising it got lost in the scene they rebuilt it in red.

While Brickman thought it was the right decision, the loss of time meant their built did not have the necessary polish or 'presence' of the other, larger builds.

Sadly, it was this lack of presence that led to David and G's elimination from the competition.

"It's hard, it's disappointing, but it's not the end of LEGO for us," G said.

The Motorbike in the Garage | Episode 7

What's better than a game of Cluedo? A game of Cluedo where everything is made of LEGO, obviously!

In Episode 7, teams were each given the name of a room and an item that is in the process of being stolen from the it.

They then needed to recreate the crime in progress, telling their story clear enough that special guest Inspector Sophie Monk could solve it as quickly as possible.

David and G were stoked to be assigned the garage, where they needed to build a vehicle that was not a car being stolen.

No car, no worries!

David and G decided to go with a motorbike. In their scene, the thief had tied up that homeowner and a policeman was arriving seconds too late – and the balaclava-donning criminal hooned away!

The story was told clear enough that Inspector Monk quickly solved the crime.

"It just goes to show when you do something simple and obvious, the power of that," Brickman said of their build.

Brickman thought that adding the policeman to their scene really helped tell the story.

His only critique? "Maybe have them turn their head around" to be looking more at the thief.

It was another solid build for David & G, who were safe to build another day!

Monkey Business | Episode 6

In Episode Six, the build was all about sabotaging Hamish.

Teams had to build the most creative and exciting booby traps to stop his journey driving a remote-control Jeep through their themed builds.

David and G used their 'tropical' themed baseplate to get a little bananas...

Hamish's car had a lot of havoc to get through here: four falling trees, a fast-spinning turntable and a booby trap of falling bananas.

"I think you had fun," Brickman began his praise.

"You really thought about the moment. so you plotted out almost like a Hollywood script 'this is exactly what's going to happen when it's going to happen,'" he continued.

Of all the builds, this was the one Hamish struggled to get through the most. In fact, their turntable sent him flying off the board completely!

It was that moment that helped them secure their first win of the competition!

"Not expected but I'll take it!" a smiley G reacted, as he and David took control of the MAGIC Brick.
