The Penguin | Batman Celebrating 85 Years

In episode 10, teams kicked off finals week with a challenge of superhero proportions – celebrating 85 years of Batman!

Just as famous as Batman is Gotham's most notorious villains. Each team was assigned an iconic Batman villain and had eight hours to build a show-stopping vehicle and action-scene inspired by their villain.

This challenge was an elimination. With the BIG Brick in their possession, Michelle and Krystle had immunity and the power to choose the villains for each team.

Peter and Ida were handed The Penguin. So, how did they go?

For the villainous vehicle, Peter and Ida had the idea of a giant controllable seagull bursting through the park grounds. In this scene, The Penguin has stolen the mayor's daughter.

While cool, Brickman failed to see the link to The Penguin, other than being a bird.

"Why would he be bursting out the ground in a giant seagull?" queried Brickman. "I'm confused."

Taking in Brickman's advice, they went with a giant penguin instead.

It's The Penguin vs Batman in this epic fight scene!

"I think we just get there on the storytelling," began Brickman. "There's a kidnapping going on so from an action perspective, I think that's a pass."

From a technical perspective, Brickman praised the team for their "brick bending" to bring up the roads.

"Unquestionably we can tell what's going on," he said. "There's real action and drama."

But he did have one major concern. The vehicle itself...

Looking at the detail, Brickman said the little penguins with dynamite was "super cute".

"But I just feel like it needed to be something a bit more out there from a penguin perspective," Brickman added.

"I know you played around with a few different head sizes, I really feel like we needed to double down on it and make it bigger.

"If we took that Minifigure out, we probably couldn't tell it's The Penguin, so that's the hardest part."

The team received ticks on technicality and storytelling, but their aesthetics is where they lost.

Potty Training / Bathroom | Land of the Giants Challenge

In Episode 9, the teams were tasked with a special Minifigure challenge in a build aptly named the Land of the Giants.

Each team was allocated a room of the house and had to create a scene where mini-figures interacted with the real-world objects in that room.

Teams had 10 hours to pull off the build and impress Brickman with their skills in replicating real-life objects.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief as they learned it was not an elimination challenge. But that didn't mean this round wasn't more important than ever before with the winners automatically securing themselves a spot in the semi-final.

Peter and Ida wanted to stand out from the pack this week, so after being assigned the Bathroom build, they decided on... potty humour.

Literally.

Their bathroom scene depicted a young girl's potty training, complete with an 'accident' and a few very helpful Minifigures who had come to the rescue to clean it up.

Hamish found the scene to be... well, something.

"There's quite a lot of urine isn't there? This is lovely.

"Confronting... but lovely," he said.

Brickman praised their story as very easy to understand.

He also loved their toothpaste tube, which he said was "very difficult" to make, especially because of its rolled up, squeezed shape.
