Just when you thought you'd seen it all, LEGO® Masters Grand Masters delivered another huge surprise.
Faces dropped and eyes boggled as Hamish Blake and Brickman stopped teams seven hours into their build to wheel out a never-before-seen scoreboard.

"Welcome to the first ever LEGO Masters Leaderboard," Hamish announced.
And so the question begged, why is a leaderboard being used?

Earlier in the episode, Hamish revealed that a special immunity brick is crafted behind the scenes.
Whoever holds that brick will be kept safe from the first elimination.
Every team wants to get their hands on the immunity brick and topping the leaderboard is the way to do it.

"If you want to win the immunity brick you will be judged on your total score from the next three builds," Hamish said.
"Each of the next three builds will be scored. You will see exactly where you sit and the highest total score at the end of the next three builds will win the brick."

Brickman added that seeing their scores plastered on the board will be a wakeup call for teams who may need to take a risk to move up on the leaderboard.
While everyone understood the importance of the all-new leaderboard, Damian pointed one glaring problem with it – his name was spelt wrong.
"I have two As in my name," he corrected Hamish.
The rest of the teams erupted into laughter as Hamish realised the mistake.

But spelling errors aside, the LEGO Masters Leaderboard seriously raises the stakes.
It marks the first time that teams will be individually ranked with a score out of 20 instead of only naming a top and bottom two teams.
