It's like a scene from a dream: a helicopter dropping $1 million cash from the sky.

This was the reality of the 14 new trekkers attempting to climb a mountain in New Zealand's Southern Alps in on The Summit Season 2.

They are competing for $1 million – but they did not expect to have to gather it themselves while it rained down from above them.

In the video above, host Jai Courtney tells the group to "go fetch", so they sprint towards the money and gather up huge wads of cash.

But as they start to count it all up they realise they're missing a large chunk.

"There's 250,000 grand missing and I expect it back," poker player Sharksey says. "Otherwise I'm going home."

That's when the group discover a letter, which reveals how they will retrieve the quarter of a million dollars they are missing.

The Summit will air on Sundays at 7:00pm and continue Monday and Tuesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
