During Episode 5 of My Mum Your Dad, Tom aka 'Boss' left the Retreat after his daughter Chloe discovered he'd made some negative comments about another parent.

In an emotional moment where both were in tears, Chloe requested they both go home after she became sick of defending her father's actions.

The father-daughter duo spoke out about their departure in an exclusive interview with 9Entertainment, and said that while things didn't go as expected on the show, their own bond is closer than ever.

"Regardless of why we left, I don't regret taking him out and he respects my decision," Chloe said.

"I definitely made the right decision. It was time for us to go home. Dad wasn't finding the connection, all the other couples were and just being there was not going to help...

"I didn't know what to expect [from the Retreat]. I think I've learned that I didn't know my dad as well as I do now. He has emotions.

"Prior to this, I'd seen him cry when Michael Jackson died and when his mum died and that was it. Now, I've seen him cry. I'm all for emotions and men expressing their emotions."

When asked if the experience brought them closer together, Boss added: "That was the biggest thing I got out of it; just getting closer to Chloe.

"There's a bond now, that we can't break."

"We actually haven't lived together for about four years, so to be able to do this experience was the most amount of time we've ever spent with each other!" Chloe beamed.

Boss said he has learned things from taking part in My Mum Your Dad when it comes to dating.

"I've been quite strict, saying I want 'this, this and this'. In the past the problem has been that if I have three, I let the other two go and think, 'that's alright'.

"I let the other two go, but they become massive red flags and the relationship crashes. I've been quite strict and gone, 'Unless I've got those five, I'm not doing it.'"

But now, he said that he's happy to "tweak" his list and will ease off on some aspects, and maybe find the right person in future.

Boss laughed when he was asked if he'd return to online dating, responding: "I don't want to. I've told myself no, but I know it'll happen. I'm hoping not to!"

When it comes to finding Boss a partner, Chloe says: "He just needs a best buddy that will do all the fun things that he likes.

"He's really impulsive, so he'll do all the things they love as well. So I guess someone that will just bounce off him."
