One of the world's best hotels is in Australia and costs less than $300 a night
It's an illustrious rundown comprising some of the biggest hotel names in the world.
But one of the only two Aussie hotels to make a new best of list is a relatively affordable spot.
Hyde Melbourne Place has got a nod on National Geographic's list of the best hotels across the world for 2025.

The Melbourne outpost of the Hyde chain was given a nod in the 'Designer Dens' category Nat Geo's Traveller Hotel Awards for 2025.
It is dubbed by the judges "a microcosm of local art and design," which is high praise in a city known for hip and trendy style.
Rooms boast an ultramodern, minimal but warm design. There are three venues to drink and dine at, including a rooftop bar, Mid Air, and acclaimed chef Ross Lusted's restaurant, Marmelo.
Other unusual offerings include the option to stream pilates classes on the in-room tablet.

When 9Travel stayed at the London branch, we discovered a funky poncho rather than a bathrobe, a trendy design and a restaurant which pushed the boundaries of the usual hotel cuisine.
Another Hyde hotel is due to open in Perth, and one is also coming to Aussie favourite spot, Seminyak, in Bali.
Meanwhile, an isolated spot almost five hours from Perth was the only other Aussie mention on the list.

Heyscape Denmark was named as a runner-up in the Remote Escape category.
Its isolated cabins near the scenic WA town come with outdoor baths and saunas. Some sleep four people and even allow dogs.
"This is a place to escape the world," Nat Geo said of the property.
Tim Brady from the company said it was "thrilled" at the namecheck.
"Our immersive experience offering is an Australian-first for higher-density cabins," he says.

Other hotels that made the list included W Prague in the Czech Republic, recognised for 'Best Revamp'.
Anantara Ubud Bali Resort in Ubud, Bali came out as the best Wellness Haven.
Fowlescombe Farm in Devon, England was named as a 'food hero' and Élysée Montmartre Hotel in France won for its budget-friendly vibe.
Meanwhile, another Aussie hotel also topped an international awards list recently.
The luxurious Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island in South Australia has been named as the American Express Travel "One To Watch" at The World's 50 Best Hotels 2025, recognising it as a 'rising star', with potential to become one of the best in the world in future.

After it burned down in the January 2020 bushfires, founders James and Hayley Baillie turned to original architect and Kangaroo Island native, Max Pritchard, to help rebuild the property.
There are 25 suites on the property that pay homage to the region's maritime history, named after the many shipwrecks that came to grief in the island's surrounding waters.
However, one night will set you back around $3600.
