Travel to Los Angeles has "never been more critical" after deadly wildfires devastated parts of the iconic holiday destination, according to tourism authorities.
While the recovery for those who lost their homes will be long, Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board President and CEO Adam Burke is encouraging tourists to stick to their travel plans.
"With over 540,000 Angelenos working in the tourism sector and more than 1,000 local businesses relying on our industry for their livelihoods, travellers continuing to visit our city has never been more critical," he said in a statement.

FireAid, a benefit concert for wildfire relief, has kicked off in LA today, with A-list stars coming together to help the city recover from the natural disasters.
The concert hopes to raise funds for the tens of thousands of LA locals affected by the fires, with all proceeds going "directly to the event's designated beneficiaries".

Burke said tourism to the region will play a similar vital role.
"In moments like these, tourism does more than drive our economy – it becomes a lifeline in supporting our community's recovery," he said.
"Our hearts are with all Angelenos who have suffered loss during this incredibly difficult time, and we are grateful beyond words to the first responders and all who have provided aid to our community from across the country and around the world."

Is it safe to travel to LA right now?
Los Angeles International Airport, or LAX, remained open throughout the fires and continues to be operational.
Burke confirmed, the vast majority of the city's world-class attractions and tourism related businesses remain "fully operational".
"We continue to welcome visitors with the warmth, creativity, and vibrancy that make LA so unique," he said.
"We're immeasurably grateful to all those who continue to choose LA as one of the world's premier travel destinations."
